Abstract:Hard constraints are usually treated as terminal vetoes: once a candidate violates a requirement, the learned rule rejects it and any repair is handled outside the decision semantics. This misses a common deployed regime in which the system already knows a finite menu of modifications, such as adding a ticket option, changing a configuration, or requesting an available service upgrade. Existing constraint-learning, soft-relaxation, and recourse methods address nearby problems, but they do not learn whether an option should be repaired before being vetoed. We introduce Repair-Augmented Constraint Learning (RACL), a contextual decision framework that lifts known repair operators into the classifier semantics. A candidate is accepted when an affordable repair makes it feasible and preferred enough; otherwise the system returns a structured rejection credit and, when applicable, a repair plan. This repair-before-veto view strictly generalizes no-repair HASSLE-style semantics, reveals an irreducible false-veto gap for terminal-veto rules, separates binary-label non-identifiability from decision-rule learnability, and gives capacity and calibration bounds for the observed-feasibility shared-weight setting. Across controlled and DB1B-derived benchmarks, RACL recovers the intended credit and repair structure. On the hardest raw-data-derived tier, validation-selected RACL reduces false vetoes to 10/4039 (FVR 0.0025), versus about 1064/4039 for the strongest repair-search black-box baseline, while making the FVR/EDR trade-off explicit.
Abstract:Recent multimodal large language models (MLLMs) achieve strong performance on visual reasoning benchmarks, yet it remains unclear to what extent such performance reflects reasoning directly grounded in visual evidence. We introduce VisReason, a benchmark for vision-centric reasoning in everyday scenarios where perception and inference are tightly coupled. VisReason contains 1,505 questions across 10 categories spanning perceptual, structural, and conceptual reasoning. Our evaluation shows that VisReason poses a qualitatively different challenge from existing benchmarks, exposing substantial gaps between humans and current MLLMs and revealing limited benefits from test-time reasoning strategies. VisReason offers a focused diagnostic for evaluating vision-centric reasoning beyond language.
Abstract:High-fidelity EEG generation is critical for alleviating data scarcity and addressing privacy constraints in large-scale neural modeling. Despite recent progress, most existing approaches formulate EEG generation via discrete denoising objectives, which inadequately reflect the inherently continuous temporal dynamics and spectral structure of neural activity. As a result, these methods often struggle to preserve long-range temporal dependencies and exhibit mismatches in the spectral and temporal structure of the generated signals. In this work, we argue that effective EEG generation requires models that operate directly on the continuous evolution of neural signals. We introduce Just EEG Transformer (JET), a generative framework based on conditional flow matching that models EEG as raw sequences evolving along continuous trajectories. By learning a smooth vector field that transports noise to the EEG data distribution, JET captures temporal continuity and transient dynamics without relying on discretized denoising schemes or domain-specific representations. To ensure that the learned dynamics remain consistent with key properties of EEG signals, we introduce principled constraints that preserve spectral structure, temporal stationarity, and signal-level statistics. Across three large-scale benchmarks, JET consistently achieves state-of-the-art performance, reducing TS-FID by over 40% compared to strong baselines. Extensive analyses show that JET captures key structural properties of neural dynamics, providing a scalable and principled approach to EEG generation. Abstract:Creating and editing high-quality 3D content remains a central challenge in computer graphics. We address this challenge by introducing CompoSE, a novel method for Compositional Synthesis and Editing of 3D shapes via part-aware control. Our method takes as input a set of coarse geometric primitives (e.g., bounding boxes) that represent distinct object parts arranged in a particular spatial configuration, and synthesizes as output part-separated 3D objects that support localized granular (i.e., compositional) editing of individual parts. The key insight that enables our method is our use of a diffusion transformer architecture that alternates between processing each part locally and aggregating contextual information across parts globally, and features a novel conditioning technique that ensures strong adherence to the user's input. Importantly, our method learns to infer part semantics and symmetries directly from the user's coarse layout guidance, and does not require part-level text prompts. We demonstrate that our method enables powerful part-level editing capabilities, including context-aware substitution, addition, deletion, and style-preserving resizing operations. We show through extensive experiments that our method significantly outperforms existing approaches on guided synthesis, as measured by objective metrics and LLM-based evaluations.
Abstract:Camera-controlled video generation has made substantial progress, enabling generated videos to follow prescribed viewpoint trajectories. However, existing methods usually learn camera-specific conditioning through camera encoders, control branches, or attention and positional-encoding modifications, which often require post-training on large-scale camera-annotated videos. Training-free alternatives avoid such post-training, but often shift the cost to test-time optimization or extra denoising-time guidance. We propose Warp-as-History, a simple interface that turns camera-induced warps into camera-warped pseudo-history with target-frame positional alignment and visible-token selection. Given a target camera trajectory, we construct camera-warped pseudo-history from past observations and feed it through the model's visual-history pathway. Crucially, we align its positional encoding with the target frames being denoised and remove warped-history tokens without valid source observations. Without any training, architectural modification, or test-time optimization, this interface reveals a non-trivial zero-shot capability of a frozen video generation model to follow camera trajectories. Moreover, lightweight offline LoRA finetuning on only one camera-annotated video further improves this capability and generalizes to unseen videos, improving camera adherence, visual quality, and motion dynamics without test-time optimization or target-video adaptation. Extensive experiments on diverse datasets confirm the effectiveness of our method.
Abstract:Although recent LMMs have become much stronger at visual perception, they remain unreliable on problems that require multi-step reasoning over visual evidence. In this paper, we present UnAC (Understanding, Abstracting, and Checking), a multimodal prompting method that strengthens reasoning for complex multimodal tasks in LMMs (e.g., GPT-4o, Gemini 1.5, and GPT-4V). To improve image understanding and capture fine details, we propose an adaptive visual prompting strategy that enables LMMs to focus on salient regions. We further design an image-abstraction prompt to effectively extract key information from images. In addition, we introduce a gradual self-checking scheme that improves reasoning by verifying each decomposed subquestion and its answer. Extensive experiments on three public benchmarks-MathVista, MM-Vet, and MMMU.
Abstract:Motivation: Multi-omics integration can improve cancer subtyping, but modality informativeness and noise vary across cancer types and patients. Existing graph-based methods optimize modality weights jointly with the classification objective and therefore lack independent reliability estimates, so low-quality omics distort patient similarity graphs and amplify noise through message passing. Results: We propose CMGL, a two-stage framework that estimates per-sample modality reliability through evidential deep learning and uses the frozen confidence scores to guide cross-omics fusion and graph construction. On four MLOmics cancer-subtype tasks and the 32-class pan-cancer task, CMGL consistently improves over the strongest baseline, surpassing it by 4.03% in average accuracy on the four single-cancer tasks. Its representations recover the PAM50 intrinsic subtypes of breast invasive carcinoma (BRCA), and the BRCA-trained model transfers without fine-tuning to kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), stratifying patients into prognostically distinct groups.
Abstract:This paper presents the NTIRE 2026 Remote Sensing Infrared Image Super-Resolution (x4) Challenge, one of the associated challenges of NTIRE 2026. The challenge aims to recover high-resolution (HR) infrared images from low-resolution (LR) inputs generated through bicubic downsampling with a x4 scaling factor. The objective is to develop effective models or solutions that achieve state-of-the-art performance for infrared image SR in remote sensing scenarios. To reflect the characteristics of infrared data and practical application needs, the challenge adopts a single-track setting. A total of 115 participants registered for the competition, with 13 teams submitting valid entries. This report summarizes the challenge design, dataset, evaluation protocol, main results, and the representative methods of each team. The challenge serves as a benchmark to advance research in infrared image super-resolution and promote the development of effective solutions for real-world remote sensing applications.
Abstract:This paper presents the NTIRE 2026 image super-resolution ($\times$4) challenge, one of the associated competitions of the NTIRE 2026 Workshop at CVPR 2026. The challenge aims to reconstruct high-resolution (HR) images from low-resolution (LR) inputs generated through bicubic downsampling with a $\times$4 scaling factor. The objective is to develop effective super-resolution solutions and analyze recent advances in the field. To reflect the evolving objectives of image super-resolution, the challenge includes two tracks: (1) a restoration track, which emphasizes pixel-wise fidelity and ranks submissions based on PSNR; and (2) a perceptual track, which focuses on visual realism and evaluates results using a perceptual score. A total of 194 participants registered for the challenge, with 31 teams submitting valid entries. This report summarizes the challenge design, datasets, evaluation protocol, main results, and methods of participating teams. The challenge provides a unified benchmark and offers insights into current progress and future directions in image super-resolution.
Abstract:How the brain supports language across different languages is a basic question in neuroscience and a useful test for multilingual artificial intelligence. Neuroimaging has identified language-responsive brain regions across languages, but it cannot by itself show whether the underlying processing is shared or language-specific. Here we use six multilingual large language models (LLMs) as controllable systems and create targeted ``computational lesions'' by zeroing small parameter sets that are important across languages or especially important for one language. We then compare intact and lesioned models in predicting functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) responses during 100 minutes of naturalistic story listening in native English, Chinese and French (112 participants). Lesioning a compact shared core reduces whole-brain encoding correlation by 60.32% relative to intact models, whereas language-specific lesions preserve cross-language separation in embedding space but selectively weaken brain predictivity for the matched native language. These results support a shared backbone with embedded specializations and provide a causal framework for studying multilingual brain-model alignment.
